Harmony Felt Frequently Asked Questions

As every room and situation is different, we recommend getting in touch with an acoustics expert. The general rule states that a minimum of ⅓ of the wall needs to be covered to improve the acoustics.

PET felt is made primarily from recycled plastic bottles. The plastic is cleaned, ground into small pieces, and processed into fibers. These fibers are formed into mats, felted, then heated and pressed into durable panels that can be shaped into a wide range of products.

Since PET Felt is made of plastic bottles, it has the following properties:

• Easy to process
• Impact-resistant
• Easily recyclable after being used

Any space needs good acoustics — restaurants, hotels, (home) offices, meeting rooms, etc. Adding sound-absorbing materials to walls and ceilings helps reduce echo and reverberation within a space, can improve everyone’s experience and well-being. You can theoretically install Harmony PET Felt on most wall and some ceiling surfaces.

Yes. Harmony Felt works great for this purpose.

PET felt is moderately impact-resistant and can withstand normal everyday contact. However, it is not designed for heavy impact or harsh conditions and should still be handled with care. Avoid installing it in areas that are damp, dirty, or exposed to excessive wear, as these conditions may shorten the life of the material.

PET Felt is incredibly versatile, flexible, and safe. It’s lightweight and easy to process. There are no dangerous emissions coming out of the material. PET Felt also has a Class A Fire rating, meaning that it is difficult to be set on fire.

All of our Harmony PET Felt products have an ASTM E84 Class A Fire rating.

Our Harmony Felt products are designed to absorb and dampen sound, significantly reducing sound reflections within a space. However, PET felt cannot completely block sound.

Inhabit Harmony Felt products are designed for sound absorption, attenuation and diffusion. Inhabit Harmony Felt Panels will not create a perfectly sealed acoustic environment. Harmony Felt products effectively reduce echo, improve speech intelligibility, and lower the overall sound level within a space.

Yes. Harmony PET felt can typically be field-cut with a sharp utility knife for outlets, switches, thermostats, and similar wall obstructions. For electrical boxes, use an appropriate box extender so the outlet or switch is properly brought forward to the finished surface. We recommend having your installer review the installation instructions and local code requirements before cutting or installing.

In some cases, yes, but it depends on the product and the amount of curve. Because every curved wall is different, we recommend ordering a sample panel and testing it against your specific wall condition before placing a full order.

Adhesive coverage can vary based on the adhesive used, surface condition, wall texture, and installation method. Please follow the adhesive manufacturer’s coverage and application instructions. Harmony product pages include installation information under the Product Specifications tab.

Lightly blot the affected area with clean water and a soft cloth. For more difficult marks, follow the full Cleaning and Maintenance Guide. Avoid saturating or aggressively rubbing the felt.

A fabric protector such as Scotchgard Fabric Water Shield may help make occasional marks easier to clean, especially in areas where panels may be lightly touched. Because coatings can affect the appearance, color, or feel of the felt, we recommend testing on a sample first and following the fabric protector manufacturer’s application and drying instructions. Do not oversaturate the felt, and avoid harsh cleaners or aggressive scrubbing.

Fabric protectors are optional and are applied at the customer’s discretion.

2-Year Limited Product Warranty

Inhabit warrants its PET felt products to be free from defects in materials and manufacturing workmanship for two years from the date of purchase, when used indoors under normal conditions and installed according to Inhabit’s installation instructions.

This warranty applies only to the original purchaser and covers the product only. If Inhabit determines that a product has a covered manufacturing defect, Inhabit may, at its discretion, provide a replacement product, repair, or credit for the affected product.

This warranty does not cover installation, installer workmanship, mounting or adhesive failure, improper surface preparation, unsuitable wall or ceiling conditions, improper storage, misuse, modification, field cutting, moisture, exterior use, impact, normal wear and tear, or failure to follow installation or care instructions.

PET felt is intended for indoor use. Fading, discoloration, color shift, or material changes caused by prolonged direct sunlight, UV light, intense artificial light, heat, moisture, humidity, or other environmental conditions are not covered under this warranty.

Slight variations in color, texture, thickness, fiber appearance, dye lots, and color appearance under different lighting or screen settings are normal and are not considered defects.

Warranty claims must be submitted in writing within 30 days of discovering the issue and before the product is removed, repaired, altered, or replaced. Inhabit must be given a reasonable opportunity to inspect or evaluate the product, installation, and claimed defect. Failure to follow this process may void warranty coverage.

Inhabit is not responsible for labor, installer fees, removal, reinstallation, wall repair, adhesive removal, freight, expedited shipping, project delays, or any incidental, special, indirect, or consequential costs related to a warranty claim.

Freight damage, shortages, or incorrect items must be reported promptly upon delivery and before installation. Products that have been installed, altered, cut, or modified may not be eligible for warranty coverage.

This limited warranty is the sole warranty provided by Inhabit and is limited to the remedies described above.

SHIPPING – Delivery times vary depending on the destination. Available shipping options and estimated transit times will appear in your cart at checkout. Add the estimated shipping time to the product’s production timeframe to determine the approximate total delivery time.

OVERSEAS ORDERS – Production times vary by product and are listed on each product page. Once production is complete, international shipping typically takes an additional 7–16 days. Your total estimated delivery time is the product’s production timeframe plus the shipping timeframe. Delivery details will be included in your confirmation email.

Yes! Some of our products can be customized.

Our Harmony Felt Acoustic Products can be customized beyond the available 28 standard felt colors offered. Contact us for more details.

Some Overlay color and felt color combinations may be possible for larger projects, but not all custom combinations are available for smaller orders. Standard combinations shown on the product page are the best option for most orders. If you are working on a larger project, contact us with the product, quantity, desired felt color, and desired Overlay color so we can review what may be possible.

Some Harmony products may be available in custom sizes or custom cuts for larger project quantities. Standard product sizes are the best fit for most installations and are listed in the Product Specifications tab. For custom-size requests, please contact us with drawings, dimensions, quantities, colors, and project details.

Yes. Full-size sample panels are available for purchase through our website. Harmony color swatches may also be available to help with color selection. We recommend ordering samples or swatches before placing a full order, especially when color, texture, lighting, or project approval is important.
