We recently participated in a project headed up by Ellen Degenres and the HGTV’s Kitchen Cousins. The project featured a complete home renovation while an unsuspecting family was sent on what they thought was a trip from The Ellen Show.

I wanted to start the week off letting you know about our new drinkware line made from reclaimed glass bottles. The drinking glasses are handmade in the USA in Indianapolis from pre and post-consumer waste.
Pulled from the waste stream and diverted from landfills these outcasts are given new life as modern drinking glasses. They are perfectly imperfect with unexpected beautiful details like original stamping, casting impressions or varying wall thicknesses. These details combined with Inhabit’s trademarked designs sandblasted onto the surface create something worth hanging onto. Available in four different glass colors and a large selection of designs.

At Inhabit we’re always on the lookout for outside-the-box ideas but here’s a company that’s thinking inside the box when it comes to sustainable packaging for water. Boxed Water is Better is a Michigan based company that is using – that’s right, boxes, also known as cartons, to package water. About 76% of the boxed water container is made from a renewable resource, trees. In addition to being made of a renewable resource, their unfilled boxes ship flat to their filler which is significantly more efficient when compared to shipping bottles. The boxes are also recyclable where facilities exist. And if that’s not enough goodness, when you drink Boxed Water is Better water you can also feel good about the fact that 20% of the profits will go back to supporting water and forestation organizations.

I love coming across DIY projects that are pretty simple but look so nice! This modern cinder block planter idea is perfect, with supplies that are easy to come by and putting it together is just as simple. They are filled with easy to grow beautiful succulents – the inspiration comes from Annette at {Pot-ted}, a nursery and patioscaping company.
Here’s how she did it:
- The wall was built with 12″ cinder blocks
- Liquid nails were used to hold them together so there wouldn’t be grout lines and would also allow for flexibility.
- In order to make bottoms for the blocks that are sticking forward, cut pieces of cinder block or pavers to fit the inside and then liquid nail them in.
- The planting is new and as it fills in and starts trailing, it is going to look even better.
- The use of cinder blocks allows for many different iterations you could make depending on how much space you have.
- They are also really cheap and can be painted if you want to match them to your decor.
